Pollywog’s Asset Mapping Project

Asset Mapping, or the process of creating a map of community assets and resources, is a hands-on experience that centers the participants’ experiences and opinions. Over-sized aerial maps are the canvas for community members to share their perspectives on their home and its resources. We hope to learn more about the community that we can’t learn from just looking at a map ourselves.

Pollywog is hosting Asset Mapping sessions in the following communities:

  • Linn County – Brownsville, Halsey, Harrisburg, Lebanon, Mill City, Scio, and Sweet Home;
  • Benton County – Alsea, Monroe, and Philomath;
  • Lincoln County – Depoe Bay, Lincoln City, Newport, Siletz, Toledo, and Waldport.

These communities were chosen because they are similar in size (under 20,000 residents) and have at least two of these existing assets – a grocery store that sells fresh meats and produce, a library, and a health care clinic.

Email adamsc@linnbenton.edu if you’re interested in joining a mapping session or hosting a session in your community.

The Pollywog Asset Mapping Project is funded by OHA’s Public Health Equity Grant and runs through 12/31/2025.
